Hradec Králové - The Hradec Králové region will acquire the Dobrošov border fortress in Náchod free of charge. Regional councilors approved the property agreement with the Ministry of Defense today. The region should receive the fortress within a few months, regional councilor Josef Dvořák told reporters today. "We will sign the contract in the near future. The operation of the fortress will continue to be managed by the Regional Museum in Náchod," Dvořák said. The contract with the Ministry of Defense specifies, for example, that the region must utilize the facility for ten years in the public interest and a museum must continue to operate on the premises. The Dobrošov fortress was built to protect the republic against the expanding Germany, alongside other border fortifications. During the Protectorate, the fortress was closed and it remained abandoned until the 1960s after 1945. The first visitors entered the fortress on May 1, 1969. The exhibition is now managed by the Regional Museum in Náchod.
