Moravian Krumlov - The spaces of the castle in Moravian Krumlov, where the Slav Epic by Alfons Mucha is to be exhibited again for five years starting this spring, have been approved after modifications. This was confirmed to ČTK by the mayor of the town, Tomáš Třetina (TOP09), with Czech Television alerting to the completion of the approval.

"Last week we completed the approval of the spaces, they are currently being heated, and small details like electrical outlets and painting the toilets are being finished. We are continuously measuring the necessary values and will negotiate with Prague and the gallery management about the loan," Třetina stated. The modification of the spaces for the exhibition of the Slav Epic cost 57 million crowns, with contributions from the Ministry of Culture, the South Moravian Region, and additional funds allocated in the state budget for this year.

The exact wording of the loan agreement is being negotiated by the leadership of Prague with the leadership of Moravian Krumlov since the beginning of January. The cities have so far concluded a preliminary agreement on the loan of the canvases for five years. One condition of the loan was the modification of the exhibition spaces.

Last December, Prague lost a lawsuit when the District Court for Prague 1 ruled that the cycle does not belong to Prague, thereby granting the lawsuit of the painter's grandson, John Mucha. The ruling is not final, and the city had previously stated that it would appeal the court's decision.

The first 11 canvases of the epic were exhibited in 1919 at the Clementinum in Prague and between 1920 and 1921 achieved success at exhibitions in New York and Chicago. The entire epic was exhibited for the first time in 1928 at the Trade Fair Palace in Prague, and the paintings came under the management of the Gallery of the Capital City of Prague. In 1933, the canvases were rolled up and stored in a depot. It was not until 1963 that they were exhibited again at the castle in Moravian Krumlov. However, after 1989, the castle, which previously housed a railway school among other institutions, fell into disrepair. The canvases were exhibited there until 2011, and are now in the depot of the Gallery of the Capital City.
