Prague - The B line metro station Jinonice is connected to the newly emerging district in the former Waltrovka by a new pedestrian bridge. A square has also been created, and today three sculptures by the artist David Černý were unveiled. A new neighborhood is being developed in the former Waltrovka area, where offices and apartments will be located.

The bridge has an orange surface, and it includes a slope for cyclists and strollers, which is not flat, but rather slightly inclined. In addition to the bridge, the city also invested in roads and roundabouts in the Waltrovka area. In total, the city has invested over 250 million crowns in the last four years, according to Deputy Mayor Petr Dolínek (ČSSD).

The square has an area of 5000 square meters. On one side, it is bordered by the Mechanics building, the historic Walter building, and the entrance to the bridge leading to the metro. On the other side is the administrative building Aviatica. Twenty-seven trees have been planted, and cyclists can tie their bikes to one of the 39 bike racks. Additionally, there are 25 benches with USB connections for charging mobile phones. In the future, there will be internet access via wi-fi.

Today, three sculptures by David Černý titled Pegasové were unveiled in the square. They are half horses and half engines, where the engines replace the front part of the horse's body and its head. The artwork refers to the fact that aircraft engines were produced in Waltrovka in the past. All the sculptures are mechanical and their propellers rotate.

Health care facilities, specifically Canadian Medical Care and the Movement Medicine Center of physiotherapist Pavel Kolář, are expected to move into the renovated historic Walter building in December. Also in December, a grocery store or a drugstore, as well as a restaurant in the spring, will move into the Mechanics building. Among others, the post office, drugstore, and hair salon have already moved into the new neighborhood.

The Waltrovka brownfield, a former factory for aircraft engines, was purchased by Penta from the Irish development company Red Group in 2012. Waltrovka is being built as a comprehensive urban concept. Upon its completion, there will be 80,000 square meters of office space, 600 residential units, and 34 family houses.
