Prague - The Jinonice station on line B of the Prague metro will be closed to passengers today for approximately seven months. The reason is a planned reconstruction. The end of the closure is scheduled for August 7. Until then, metro trains will only pass through the station, and replacement transport to Jinonice will be provided by buses.
The station, opened in October 1988 under the name Švermova, suffers from massive groundwater infiltration. Therefore, complete grouting must be carried out, damaged casing needs to be repaired, and a new drainage system has to be installed. "The reconstruction will also be used for the modernization of the technological part so that safety standards meet current requirements," the company states on its website.
The first part of the reconstruction began back in November. Workers dismantled the ceilings and wall coverings made of glass blocks designed by artist František Vízner. The repair is now transitioning to the next phase, which can no longer be carried out while in operation.
According to the plan, the Jinonice station will reopen to passengers at the beginning of August. The repair is expected to be completed by November 17. The company estimates the costs of the reconstruction at 145 million crowns.
During the station's closure, bus numbers 137 and 149 will provide transport to Jinonice from Nové Butovice metro station. Additionally, a new bus line 153 will operate from Knížecí through Malvazinky, U Waltrovky, and Jinonice to Vidoule.
On line 137, the stop at Vidoule will be canceled, and new stops will be established between U Waltrovky and Jinonice, specifically U Waltrovky and U Trezorky. The stops for the Jinonice and Hutmanka buses will also be relocated.
