Mariánské Lázně

Mariánské Lázně - The fate of the town hall building is to be decided by the representatives of Mariánské Lázně at the upcoming meeting in September. Static and other assessments should indicate whether it would be more appropriate to proceed with a reconstruction or to completely abandon the building and construct a new administrative center. In the coming weeks, officials whose offices are already in a state of emergency are to vacate the town hall. The city administration is still looking for temporary workplaces for them, said the mayor of Mariánské Lázně, Petr Třešňák (Pirates), to ČTK at an extraordinary meeting of the council today.

"Employees from at least three departments must vacate the town hall. Personally, I think it would be best to temporarily relocate all departments to one or two buildings in Mariánské Lázně,"
he said. The city has already identified several buildings for relocation and is now determining the conditions under which the offices could be moved.

Due to the emergency state of the town hall, the extraordinary council meeting was held in alternative premises at the Krakonoš hotel today. "It all started when a piece of plaster fell from the ceiling in my colleague's office from the transportation department. Survey work then revealed the poor condition of the ceiling structures and the threat of woodworm," described the head of the investment department, Petr Řezník. Work is already underway to address these issues, with the city allocating over two million crowns for them. For greater safety, there are supports placed in the affected offices, but working in such conditions is uncomfortable for both employees and clients of the office, said the office's secretary, Jiří Šrámek, to ČTK.

Experts are now to assess the condition of the entire building and the possibilities for its reconstruction. The data obtained should assist the representatives in deciding whether to reconstruct the town hall or abandon it. So far, the representatives have been unable to find consensus on this matter. However, they pointed out at the meeting that a decision can no longer be delayed, as the condition of the long-neglected building continues to deteriorate. An alternative to its repair is the construction of a new administrative center, likely on Kollárova Street. However, the city would still need to find a use for the building on Ruská Street. In recent years, Mariánské Lázně has repeatedly announced that they are ready to sell the property, but no interested parties have ever responded.
