Přerov - The abandoned Strojař hotel located near the center of Přerov is now owned by the city. The town hall purchased it from the Ministry of Defense, paying 40.5 million crowns for it. An additional 1.6 million will be spent by the city on the property transfer tax. The hotel, with a capacity of 369 beds, which was vacated by soldiers at the end of 2013, was acquired by the city to prevent the establishment of another social housing facility. However, there is currently no intended use for it. According to city representatives, its reconstruction will cost tens of millions of crowns. "The payment for Strojař was made on June 20 - and subsequently, the Ministry of Defense submitted a proposal for entry in the real estate cadastre. Since July, the owner has been the city of Přerov. The amount of 40.5 million crowns was paid in one installment," said city hall spokeswoman Lenka Chalupová today to ČTK.
The transfer of the property was also confirmed today by representatives of the Ministry of Defense. "The sale of the Strojař hotel was completed in recent months, and the property was physically handed over to the representatives of the city of Přerov on June 30, 2016. The city of Přerov also paid the Ministry of Defense the purchase price of 40.5 million crowns in a single installment," said Ministry spokesman Vladimír Lukovský today to ČTK. He noted that according to the contract, the city must also pay the tax office the property transfer tax, which amounts to four percent of the purchase price.
The city hall currently has no use for the property. On its website www.prerov.eu, it stated today that it will establish a project team to focus on the use of the Strojař hotel. "At the head of this group is councilor Petr Vrána. The team is expected to present a timeline of progress, intended use, and considerations for funding repairs to the council by the end of the year," said Mayor Vladimír Puchalský (Together for Přerov).
There have previously been proposals to convert the hotel into social housing or the seat of the municipality, and there was also a suggestion to completely demolish the building. However, no final decision has yet been made. The city administration estimates that the renovation of Strojař will cost tens of millions of crowns. "If it were converted into apartments, it could be around 120 million; if it were converted into offices, the amount could rise to 200 million crowns," it states on the city's website.
The Strojař hotel on Velká Dlážka street, which was vacated by the soldiers at the end of 2013, has been offered for sale by the ministry since January 2014. Initially, the army demanded 62 million crowns for it, and the price was gradually reduced. The city initially tried to acquire the property without charge, which ultimately did not succeed. After two interested parties responded to the ministry in the last round of bidding, the city decided to purchase the building. The reason was precisely the fear of it becoming another social housing facility. There are already two dozen such facilities in the city.
