Prerov - The Prerov City Hall has changed its position regarding the potential purchase of the abandoned nine-story hotel Strojař. The councilors have once again proposed to the representatives that the city buy the property for the price of 40 million crowns. They suggest spreading this amount over installments over a period of five years. The representatives had previously rejected this proposal, but according to the city hall, the situation has now changed. The city is entering the issue of the sale of Strojař at a time when the deadline for submitting offers in the tender has already ended. Two interested parties have already registered with the Ministry of Defense, having paid a deposit. The city aims primarily to prevent the establishment of another social accommodation facility. There are already two dozen of them in Prerov, where over 600 people live. "I proposed this based on the fact that two companies are interested in Strojař. Since the council's decision that we are not interested in a transfer for consideration, the interpretation of the law regarding housing supplements has changed, where the city now only gives a recommendatory report. The danger that this could lead to a hostel is once again present and significant,” said councilor Petr Vrána (ANO) to ČTK. City representatives admitted that they are once again communicating with the Ministry of Defense. The leadership of Prerov did not want to comment much on whether the city could intervene in the tender in this way. "The council is trying to eliminate the unpleasant accommodation impact on Prerov. Nothing more. As far as I know, the envelopes have not yet been unsealed, and the amounts offered by the entities have not been disclosed,” stated Mayor Vladimír Puchalský (Together for Prerov). The leadership of Prerov is aware that the amount offered by the city would have to be higher than the offers of the two interested parties. Representatives from the Ministry of Defense also confirmed today the negotiations with the city. "As part of the ongoing tender for the sale of the Strojař hotel, we have received two offers. We are aware of the city of Prerov's renewed interest in direct sale negotiations and have been contacted by representatives of the city council. Currently, we are analyzing the possibilities for further action in this matter,” said spokesperson Vladimír Lukovský to ČTK today. Initially, the city tried to acquire Strojař gratuitously on the grounds that it would use the property for public interest. It wanted to transform the hotel into social housing, or it proposed to demolish it. The plan ultimately did not go through. The preferential sale for 40 million crowns was rejected by the representatives in June, stating that the amount was too high and, additionally, the city would have to agree to restrictive conditions. "If we were to acquire Strojař, it would be a price to pay to ensure that there is no hostel here. Quite a few people feel that the city should intervene since a hostel with 300 beds would be burdensome for Prerov,” added councilor Vrána. The Ministry offered Strojař in the fourth round of the tender for a minimum purchase price of 39.5 million crowns. Originally, the army had demanded 62 million crowns for it last January, and the price had gradually been lowered since then. The deadline for submitting offers expired on Tuesday, with two interested parties having signed up and already paid the mandatory deposit of 100,000 crowns.
