Ostrava - Ostrava wants to sell land with an area of approximately 8,300 m² for at least 37 million crowns, located in front of the Forum Nová Karolina shopping and entertainment center in the city center. The city council approved the sale today. The city aims to create a new landmark in Ostrava. Mayor Tomáš Macura (ANO) told reporters.

Specifically, it is about the plot right in front of the shopping center at the exit from the Frýdlant Bridges. "Historically, in all planning documents over the last decade, the area has been designated for some kind of dominant high-rise building. It just never materialized because the economic environment was not prepared for it. We want to try and announce the intention to sell these plots," said Macura.

According to him, the conditions for the sale of the plots also include regulatory restrictions that were prepared by the city's chief architect's office. The building must have at least 12 floors, all parking must be underground, and the architectural design of the building must result from an architectural competition.

"We have said several times that we do not want to just sell land for industrial use, but we also want to utilize gaps in the city for some interesting buildings that will be constructed not only by the city but also by private developers," Macura stated. He recalled that similarly, the city approved the sale of land near Nové Lauby in close proximity to the central square in June, where the city wants to build apartments.

The city will also offer the land near the shopping center at the Munich Expo Real trade fair. According to the mayor, it should be a slender building; he would personally like, for example, a hotel. The building can also serve as housing or offices. The city expects that the offer could attract foreign investors. The mayor stated that there are still interested parties applying for this plot.
