Pardubice - A public competition will decide on the developer who will build residential buildings in the area of the former barracks in Hůrky, Pardubice. The proposal of the principles for the sale of the land was approved by the councilors on Thursday. Iveta Koubková from the press department of the magistrate informed ČTK about this.

"This model provides the city with greater certainty that the land will not become the subject of speculation or that the city will lose it without fulfilling the city's construction intentions,"
said Deputy Mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO).

The city is offering 46 hectares. The only parameter for selection will be the purchase price. The competition will likely be announced after the September meeting of the council. The city will transfer the land to developers only after the apartments are built.

The winner of the competition must provide at least a hundred apartments for rental housing. The developer will build engineering and water supply networks, sidewalks, and roads between the buildings. More precise conditions will be prepared by officials, Dvořáčková added.

The traffic connection to the area does not need to be built, as road workers at Hůrky are planning a roundabout, which will be part of the D35 feeder road.

"The Road and Motorway Directorate is preparing the capacity increase of the road. A new roundabout is planned at the intersection with Spojil,"
Dvořáčková stated.

The former barracks were acquired by the city in 1999. Part of the area has been sold off; there is, for example, a hostel in the buildings. The company Pernštejn City expressed interest in the 46 hectares, offering 15 million Czech crowns. Councilors repeatedly rejected this.

Ten years ago, the company Eube negotiated the sale of the land, planning to build a smaller neighborhood. The economic crisis two years later halted the project. In the past, the city held unproductive debates about the remediation of the area.
