Jevíčko – The Pardubice Region is preparing the renewal of the park around the treatment facility in Jevíčko in the Svitavy region. It could be carried out in a few years. Some elements are in a state of disrepair, and vegetation adjustments are needed. Costs will arise from a tender process and could be up to 20 million crowns, said regional councilor Miroslav Krčil to ČTK.

"The final amount will depend on the price development, which is difficult to predict right now, but it is estimated to be in the range of ten to 20 million crowns," said Krčil.

The expansive park used to serve for the recovery of tuberculosis patients. Today, the facility focuses on people with pulmonary diseases or mobility issues. Clients come from across the country. The park is also important for successful treatment, Krčil said.

"In the nearby forest, we can find conifers that produce essential oils, which help with better lung healing. Patients were also assisted by oils from flowers, which have gradually disappeared from the area. In addition to vegetation adjustments, it is necessary to repair some paths and stairs in the park, as they are currently unusable for patients," Krčil stated.

The trees that were in the worst condition have already been cut down. New ones have been planted. The spruce and pine groves have been attacked by bark beetles, causing significant damage in recent years. In addition to the paths and stairs, the region also wants to repair the sports facilities and replace the orientation system on the premises.

"In the past, the facility was a true gem admired not only by patients but also by their family members during visits or people from the surrounding area. We want to gradually restore the beauty of this place and its associated positive influence on the recovery of patients. The exteriors of the treatment facility hide great potential," said Krčil.

The sanatorium, built between 1913 and 1926, has been a cultural monument since 2016. In recent years, the region has invested nearly 100 million crowns into the treatment facility. These funds were allocated for wooden lounges, the transformation of the former children's pavilion into a pulmonary rehabilitation pavilion, insulation of Pavilion S, and repairs to the roof of the dining pavilion.
