Poděbrady (Nymbursko) - Poděbrady will build a new kindergarten in the Polabec district. Children from the nearby villages of Kluky and Přední Lhota will also attend it, said Mayor Jozef Ďurčanský to ČTK. The total costs of the project are 18.8 million crowns, of which 14.7 million crowns will be covered by a European grant.
The current kindergarten in Polabec is already inadequate. Therefore, the city will have it demolished and a new educational facility will be built in its place. It will accommodate 50 children, which is roughly double the current capacity of the kindergarten.
The kindergarten in the Velké Zboží district will also have one more classroom, which the city is renovating. Currently, it can accommodate 30 children. By converting an unused gym on the ground floor, a classroom for another 20 children will be created. The project also includes the replacement of windows, insulation of floors, ceilings, and facades, as well as the renovation of the playground. The total costs are 11.1 million crowns, of which the grant will cover 10.2 million crowns.
In Poděbrady, there are seven municipal kindergartens with a capacity of 405 children, one private preschool facility, and a kindergarten center. Due to high demand, the city hall wanted to adjust two classrooms in the after-school club of the primary school in the city center for preschoolers. However, parents disagreed with this. Ultimately, all children were successfully placed in the current kindergartens.
