Trutnov - The thirty-one thousand strong town of Trutnov will build a leisure center for children and youth in the Na Nivách area for 197 million crowns. The center will be created by renovating and expanding an outdated facility within the sports complex. The city signed a contract for the construction with the company BAK on Thursday, and everything should be completed by the end of 2018, said Mayor Ivan Adamec (ODS) today. The construction of the center is the largest current investment project of the city.

Currently, the center for children and youth is located in one of the pavilions of the Rudolf Friml Primary School, and the space is no longer sufficient. The construction of the center in Na Nivách includes 24 building structures, such as a children's playground, an adventure playground, an outdoor rope park, and a multifunctional sports field. In the main building, individual interest groups will find their facilities. There will be a dance hall, a theater hall, a ceramic workshop, a gymnasium, and a climbing wall or a small café are planned.

The city will finance the construction of the center from a loan, the total amount of which is 350 million crowns. From other funds from the loan, the city hall intends to finance the renovation of the covered swimming pool. This is expected to cost more than 100 million crowns and should start in 2018. Part of the loan will also be used by the city to refinance a previously received loan for the construction of the community center UFFO, which opened in 2010.

According to Adamec, the loan of 350 million crowns, which will be repaid in 2029, will not jeopardize the city's financial stability. He stated that the city is in a much better financial position than it was ten years ago; for example, the city's tax revenues are now nearly 100 million crowns higher. Last year's budgetary management in Trutnov ended with revenues of 621 million crowns and expenditures of 543 million crowns, resulting in a positive outcome of 78 million crowns.
