architects are entering :: into :: the city // public space // architecture // Pardubice // offcity
The offcity_architects lecture series presents architects who are actively engaged with public space in their practice and are also "stars" of the Czech architectural scene, whose work can be compared in a broader European context. Architect Josef Pleskot is a prominent figure in Czech architecture, his realizations are unmissable and often showcased both domestically and internationally, not only in professional media. He has received several Grand Prix awards from the Association of Architects and was nominated for the Mies van der Rohe Award. The scope of his work covers the entire spectrum of architecture from family houses (e.g., Villa in Vrané nad Vltavou) to administrative buildings (e.g., the new headquarters of ČSOB in Prague Radlice) to work with public space (renovation of the Loučná riverbank in Litomyšl or the passage through the rampart of the Powder Bridge, renovation of the path through the Deer's Ditch at Prague Castle). His work exemplifies architectural sophistication and timelessness. Organized by the Terra Madoda association in collaboration with Theater 29 as part of the OFFCITY 2010 project. This project is carried out with the support of the statutory city of Pardubice and the Czech Architecture Foundation.
