The company Zumtobel participated in the transformation of the dilapidated buildings of the Tipping Facility and Mill in the industrial complex of the Lower Vítkovice area into a modern art gallery.
Effective spotlights now showcase artistic exhibits in the new Futureum gallery, where the national technical monument has been transformed.

"The Futureum gallery in the Tippler and Mill is another prestigious project in the revitalization of the industrial complex of the Lower Vítkovice area, following the multifunctional spaces of the National Agricultural Museum, in which we have participated," said Jan Vacek, CEO of ZG Lighting Czech Republic, the Czech branch of the multinational Zumtobel Group. "The first artistic exhibits illuminated by our Zumtobel and Thorn brand spotlights in the three-story Futureum were remarkable works by the renowned sculptor Čestmír Suška, whose exhibition began the second life of this newly reconstructed industrial monument last September. I believe that this extraordinary cultural venue will become a sought-after place for the public thanks to its inspiring environment," clarified Jan Vacek.

The author of the reconstruction project for the tippler and mill is architect Milan Šraml, who skillfully integrated lighting systems primarily made from VIVO II and TECTON fixtures from the Zumtobel brand and Chalice from the Thorn brand into the overall architectural concept. The installed lighting not only meets strict requirements for intensity and color of light but also features extraordinary variability in arrangement, which is essential in an art gallery with rotating exhibitions.

VIVO II

For the Futureum gallery, M and L size spotlights in the Tecton track system variant were selected from the VIVO II product line. These LED spotlights with stabilized color temperature are optimized for effective and powerful accent lighting in retail and automotive sectors, as well as for architectural lighting.

TECTON

The overall solution includes the TECTON track system with accessories (power supplies, hangers, holders, and caps). TECTON C linear fixtures with energy-saving LEDs are designed for area lighting in the given space.

Chalice

The THORN brand supplied recessed LED downlight fixtures from the Chalice product line, which are primarily located in the gallery's corridors.

The new Futureum gallery is located in the former buildings of the wagon tipplers and coal mill, which were part of the hard coal mine Hlubina, the coking plant, and the blast furnace operation in the industrial complex of the Lower Vítkovice area, whose history dates back to 1829. While the oldest part of the mill is documented from before 1949, the tippler was commissioned at the end of 1952. In 1964, both buildings underwent a significant reconstruction. However, the buildings fell into disrepair after operations ceased in 1997, and were saved from demolition by the current revitalization project of this remarkable national cultural monument, whose realization lasted two years.

The Zumtobel Group is based in Dornbirn, in the Austrian federal state of Vorarlberg. It is represented in the Czech market by the ZG Lighting Czech Republic s.r.o. branch.
