Prague - Today, test runs for trams and buses took place on the almost completed Dvorecký Bridge between Prague 4 and 5. In response to a query from ČTK, Radim Mana, spokesperson for the Metrostav TBR company, which is responsible for the construction of the bridge in partnership with Strabag and Firesta-Fišer, stated that the tests were conducted without complications.
According to Mana, the tests were carried out in connection with the permitting processes necessary for the bridge's operational commencement, which is planned for the beginning of April. ″These runs verify the safe passage of trams in live traffic and the functionality of traffic light signaling devices before the bridge becomes operational,″ said the spokesperson.
The completed bridge between Podolí and Zlíchov will be intended for public transport, pedestrians, and cyclists. Emergency services will also be able to cross it, but individual car traffic will not be permitted. The official naming of the bridge will be approved by the city council; in an online poll, the vast majority of Prague residents supported the name Dvorecký Bridge over the alternative name of the Bridge of Anežka Česká.
Construction began in 2022. Due to unexpected complications, the total costs, including design, rose from 1.57 billion crowns at the start of construction to 1.97 billion. The construction has also been extended; it was originally set to be completed last year.
