Vimperk – Vimperk in the Prachatice region is preparing a project for the construction of a multifunctional hall. It would provide facilities for cultural events and also serve as a sports venue. The multifunctional hall would be located in the garden of the T. G. Masaryk Primary School. This was announced to journalists by the media representative of the Vimperk town hall, Milan Brabec.
"We have been gathering data and drawing inspiration from elsewhere for some time now. However, we are at the beginning of a long journey. The goal is to prepare the materials for the next council meeting for the assignment of the architectural competition," said Vimperk's Deputy Mayor Zdeněk Kuncl (Vimperáci 2018 – Independents).
The T. G. Masaryk School has a gymnasium that no longer meets the needs. It could be replaced by the multifunctional hall. "The combination of sports and cultural use also opens up broader possibilities for obtaining subsidies, so that the future financial burden on the city budget from this investment is kept to a minimum. If the design process begins during the 2026 to 2030 electoral term, construction could commence in the next electoral term of 2030 to 2034," the Deputy Mayor said.
The city has been considering the construction of a cultural center for some time. However, the project would be very expensive and the building would not be fully utilized. Therefore, Vimperk has decided to build a multifunctional hall that will combine facilities for multiple activities, Brabec stated.
