Beroun - Beroun will announce a new competition for the reconstruction of the outdoor swimming pool in the Velké sídliště housing estate. Only one company applied for the first selection procedure, whose offer significantly exceeded the amount approved in the budget and also surpassed the limits of the specified type of competition. Therefore, the council had to cancel the tender, said Jitka Soukupová, spokesperson for the city, to ČTK today.

The city council has already approved new procurement conditions and agreed to re-launch the selection procedure. The reconstruction has been planned for the autumn months from the beginning to avoid interfering with summer operations. This year, the swimming area should be opened between June 5 and 10. The exact date depends on the statement from the health station, which will check water samples. Another factor is the weather. The facility will operate just like last year from 10:00 AM to 7:00 PM.

The city has set aside 29 million crowns for the first phase of the reconstruction, which includes creating a new pool basin, acquiring technologies, new areas around the pool, and building a paddling pool for children. The next phase, which will cost between eight and nine million crowns, includes slides, planting greenery, and creating a playground with water features for children. The third phase will involve a complete reconstruction of the building, which contains facilities for swimmers.

The pool was built in the 1970s and opened in 1980. During the season, the facility is visited by around 10,000 people.
