Pardubice - The former Tesla site in Pardubice will first be leased and then sold. However, the investor must obtain a building permit within four years. The city already has a potential investor who wants to build a shopping center or apartments there. Mayor Martin Charvát (ANO) told this to journalists today.
The development company Linkcity has already submitted a detailed study of the 2.5-hectare site to the city. It proposes a shopping center, a multifunctional building, apartment buildings, residential housing, and family houses. Rental spaces could be utilized by the nearby hospital or a hockey club, which would accommodate its guests there.
The abandoned site, which is poorly accessible by public transport, will be connected to the surrounding roads via a roundabout. According to Deputy Mayor Helena Dvořáčková (ANO), there will also be enough parking spaces. The investor must, among other things, build a parking garage for hospital visitors.
"If the investor manages to obtain a valid zoning decision, the sales process can begin; they have four years to do so," Dvořáčková said. The city is now announcing its intent to lease and sell, allowing other interested parties to apply as well.
The former factory has been abandoned since the late 1990s. The Foxconn company intended to redevelop the site at the turn of the millennium but eventually sold it to the region for one crown. Pardubice still needs to discuss the entire transaction with the region, from which the city received the site in 2012. Pardubice took over the property with the condition that they would build a transport connection to it and the neighboring regional hospital, as well as parking. "We need to come to an agreement with the region and fulfill the conditions we committed to," Charvát said.
