Žďár nad Sázavou - Work on the insulation and facade alterations of the city theater building in Žďár nad Sázavou could begin in early June. They are expected to be completed by the end of September. The new facade will have a burgundy color instead of the current gray, reminiscent of the theater curtain's shade. The burgundy color was chosen by the city's residents in a poll, although the selected option was not favored by the professional community. The decision was ultimately made by the city development commission. This was stated today by the mayor, Zdeněk Navrátil (the Žďár - living city association). "The town hall will still discuss the structure of the facade and the intensity of contrast between the stone cladding and the facade with the construction contractor," said Navrátil. According to him, the question remains how to address the surroundings of the building itself, where there is a lack of an intimate entrance space to the theater and sufficient parking spaces. "It will involve addressing the entire area of Doležal Square. Project preparation will be a matter for future years," the mayor added. The building of the former National House was reconstructed in the functionalist spirit at the end of the 1970s. The facade modifications related to the insulation were projected to cost almost 25 million crowns. Thanks to a public competition, the original price was reduced by approximately seven million crowns. The grant from the State Environmental Fund is expected to reach approximately 5.5 million crowns. City residents expressed their preference for the facade color in a poll conducted in an effort to improve communication between the town hall and the city's inhabitants. Improved communication was part of the program with which the Žďár - living city association surprisingly won the last municipal elections in the city. The poll took place from January 20 to February 5. The burgundy color was chosen by 430 out of 587 voters. The city has a population of 21,700. According to the mayor, further polls should follow up on topics that the town hall wants to discuss each month at meetings with the public.
