Olomouc - The minimum price of the Hanácké barracks in Olomouc, offered by the Office for the Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM), has fallen below one hundred million crowns. In the ninth round of the auction, scheduled for September 3 and 4, the minimum price fell to 89 from 111 million crowns, as stated on the ÚZSVM website. The state has not yet found a buyer for the property in the historical center of Olomouc, which requires significant reconstruction, in electronic auctions. At the end of 2021, it was offered for 262 million crowns.
Anyone who meets the conditions and deposits a 15 million crown deposit before the start of the electronic auction can register for it. For the previous rounds, the rule was that at least one bid must be placed in the auction, at least at the minimum announced price. Further bids must increase the amount by at least 100,000 crowns, previously stated the spokesperson for the office, Michaela Tesařová.
ÚZSVM is trying to sell the area of the Hanácké barracks after the operation of the Regional Assistance Center for Help to Ukraine ended in its premises, and the Olomouc Region refused to take over the property free of charge. The reason was the high reconstruction costs. The monument-protected object, which consists of a four-wing building, was taken over by ÚZSVM based on a government resolution in 2017 from the Ministry of Defense. The government approved its sale in 2020.
The barracks were used by the army for 170 years and have been empty since 2013. The building, which is a cultural monument, has a four-winged rectangular floor plan with a regular enclosed courtyard. It includes a historic chapel in the tower of the courtyard wing. According to the office, it is an important urban element that showcases military classicist architecture and has a unique architectural and military history.
The minimum price of the Hanácké barracks area is gradually decreasing. In March 2022, their price was reduced from 262 million to 249 million crowns. However, no buyer was found, and the property was subsequently used as a regional assistance center for help to Ukraine. In April of this year, the price dropped to 248 million crowns, in May to 199 million, and in June to 149 million crowns. In the eighth round, which ended at the end of July, the price of the property fell to 111 million.
