Olomouc - The state was unable to sell the vast complex of the Hanácke Barracks in the center of Olomouc even in its seventh electronic auction. The auction started on Tuesday and ended today at 10:00 AM. At least one interested party submitted a deposit, but no one made a bid at least equal to the announced price. The auction was therefore concluded without a winner. The minimum purchase price of the Hanácke Barracks was reduced in the seventh round of the auction from 199 million crowns to 149 million crowns. This information was reported today by the website of the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters (ÚZSVM).
"Today's round of the tender procedure with electronic auction for the exceptional complex of the Hanácke Barracks did not yield a winner. An interested party registered for the electronic auction and paid the required deposit of 15 million crowns within the specified timeframe, however, no bids were made during the auction. Therefore, ÚZSVM will announce the next round of the electronic auction as soon as possible," said ÚZSVM spokesperson Michaela Tesařová to ČTK. Details about the auction will be published on the websites www.nabidkamajetku.cz and www.uzsvm.cz.
ÚZSVM has been trying to sell the Hanácke Barracks complex after the operations of the Regional Assistance Center for Help to Ukraine ended in its premises, and the Olomouc Region refused to accept the property for free. This monument-protected building, consisting of a four-winged structure, was transferred to ÚZSVM based on a government resolution in 2017 from the Ministry of Defense. The government then approved its sale in 2020. The minimum price of the complex has gradually decreased. Last year it fell from 262 million to 249 million crowns, in April this year to 248 million crowns, in May to 199 million crowns, and now to 149 million crowns.
Some time ago, the Olomouc Region, along with the Olomouc City Hall and Palacký University, expressed interest in the property. However, experts pointed out the poor technical condition of the Hanácke Barracks and the high costs of reconstruction. Therefore, the regional council revoked its previous resolution at the beginning of this year, which had opened the way for municipalities and the university to acquire the Hanácke Barracks free of charge.
The Hanácke Barracks were used by the army for 170 years and have been empty since 2013. The building has office space of over 2,000 square meters. Initially, it was considered that hundreds of state office workers, who are now located in multiple places in Olomouc, would relocate there. However, according to the Ministry of Defense, further use for state officials would be more expensive than selling it and potentially constructing a new administrative headquarters.
The Olomouc Region showed interest in the building of the Hanácke Barracks back in 2014, intending to establish museum and library deposits or offices there. Ultimately, the regional administration abandoned the plan. Repairing the monument-protected building will be expensive. According to estimates from 2020, it would cost about 815 million crowns, and since then, the prices of construction work and materials have increased significantly.
