Říčany near Prague – The museum in Říčany near Prague plans an expansion. On the land between the geopark and the Říčany castle, it wants to build a facility focused on educating about climate change. It will also include a space for creative play and refreshments, said museum director Jakub Halaš.

The museum aims to obtain funding for the project, which is expected to cost tens of millions of crowns, from grants, most likely from the State Environmental Fund (SFŽP). It could apply for the subsidy next year. It will depend on when the relevant call for proposals focusing on climate change education is issued. "If we succeed, we could subsequently start building," Halaš stated.

The new exhibition will be dedicated specifically to the topic of climate change. It will also connect the history of Říčany and the region and present visions of how to live and build cities in the future. Visitors will be able to see various examples of adaptation measures triggered by changing climatic conditions.

"The entire building will be visually attractive at first glance and will inspire with every piece about how buildings could be operated and constructed in the future to be sustainable and livable," Halaš added.

The museum, established by the city, has exhibitions in the main building on Rýdlova Street, with additional spaces including a lodge and a geopark. It attracts over 20,000 visitors annually. In addition to its exhibitions, it organizes programs for schoolchildren and also offers workshops for teachers. This year, it received the international Živa Award 2003 for creativity.
