Prague - Prague will prepare a comprehensive amendment to the building regulations, which will take several months. This was agreed upon by the new Prague coalition of ANO, ČSSD, and the Troika, which today held its first coalition meeting due to disagreements regarding the regulations. The council's decision was communicated to journalists by the Deputy Mayor Matěj Stropnický (ŽnS). The councilors did not approve the original intent to partially amend the regulations. What will happen until the amended regulations take effect is unclear. "It will be a matter of political negotiations with the Ministry for Regional Development (MMR)," said the deputy. "According to legal opinions, it is technically possible for the existing regulations to remain in effect until then," he stated. However, the ministry has objections against them. Therefore, it may suspend their validity, which, according to some opinions, could mean paralyzing construction activities in the metropolis. How the MMR will act remains unclear at this time. The ministry will comment on the entire matter only on Wednesday after the announced meeting between Minister Karla Šlechtová and Prague Mayor Adriana Krnáčová. The building regulations, which serve as the implementing regulations for the building act, were approved by the previous city council under the leadership of Mayor Tomáš Hudeček. Even before they came into effect in October, they sparked a heated debate. The billboard lobby launched a strong media campaign against them. They disagree with the regulation of advertising that the regulations bring. Subsequently, the ministry came up with comments and requested amendments to the regulations from Prague. The deadline for addressing the comments expired on Monday.
