Prague - The Prague councilors today did not approve any of the key materials presented by the Deputy Mayor Matěj Stropnický (Coalition for the Future/Green Party). The issue of Prague's building regulations has been taken over by Mayor Adriana Krnáčová (ANO) instead of Stropnický. The Coalition for the Future previously stated that such a step would be considered a violation of the coalition agreement. Stropnický's inability, according to Krnáčová, has begun to jeopardize the interests of Prague. The Czech News Agency (ČTK) is seeking statements from Stropnický and the Coalition for the Future. "The inability of Deputy Stropnický to resolve the problem with suspended building regulations has begun to seriously jeopardize the interests of Prague, and we are at risk of losing the right to issue our own Prague building regulations," stated Krnáčová. "In such a situation, it is no longer possible to overlook Mr. Stropnický's experiments, and I had to intervene," she added. At the beginning of the year, the ministry suspended the effectiveness of the regulations for 15 months. This happened due to alleged errors and after strong pressure from the billboard lobby. Stropnický warned that if the council does not approve the revised regulations this week, there is a risk that they will not come into effect in time, and that the Ministry for Regional Development will cancel them. The ministry is also considering withdrawing Prague's authority to create its own building regulations as part of the amendment to the building law. The building regulations introduce, among other things, new regulations for large-scale advertising and changes in construction in the metropolis.
