Prague - The Prague councilors discussed the text of the long-discussed Prague building regulations at today's extraordinary meeting. The council incorporated the comments from the Ministry of Regional Development. The regulations are ready to be sent for notification to the European Commission (EC), said Petr Dolínek (ČSSD), the deputy mayor, to ČTK. The council met in a narrower composition after the overnight removal of four of its members. Prague presented the regulations for comments to the Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) after a competence dispute between Mayor Adriana Krnáčová (ANO) and her deputy Matěj Stropnický (SZ/Trojkoalice). They should send them for notification next week. They will come into effect next year. Earlier, ANO and ČSSD had already called for Stropnický to resign due to the regulations. The regulations proposed by Krnáčová were approved by the city council at the beginning of August; by August 31, town halls, municipal departments, and professional chambers had time to raise comments. More than 2,200 comments were received. The building regulations, which are implementation regulations for the Building Act, generally define the requirements for land use and technical requirements for buildings. The effectiveness of the original building regulations was suspended by the ministry in January for 15 months. Prague has had its own building regulations for more than 100 years as the only city in the country. The council met this morning after the city representatives voted to recall four out of eleven councilors last night. Deputy Mayor Stropnický and councilors Michal Hašek (ANO), Hana Nováková, and Irena Ropková (both ČSSD) were removed. The proposal to recall the councilors was brought forward by the chairman of the TOP 09 club, Václav Novotný. The reason was the poor functioning of the city.
