A one-room loft rental apartment of urban character was created under the roof of a new building in the center of Trnava. The investor's brief was for a modern, timeless apartment for rent that would be functional and easy to maintain. Therefore, the design emphasized versatility and simple maintenance for tenants. The architects focused mainly on multifunctionality and the correct use of every square meter.
The attic mini-loft has exclusively roof windows, and the entire space was sufficiently illuminated by five Velux windows. To achieve an open character, the original dividing wall in the hallway was removed. In the only living room, the hallway, kitchen, dining area, living room, and bedroom are integrated. A pleasant advantage of the apartment is the spacious separate bathroom with its own window.
Space, light, and of course area directed the architects to furnish the apartment around its perimeter. This highly practical solution also includes ample storage space and mitigates the cramped feel from the sloping roof. Thus, the core of the apartment remains airy and passable. The sleeping area is visually separated from the rest of the room by a slatted screen, which also serves as a coat rack for the hallway on the other side. All the furniture is atypical and custom-made. The main emphasis was placed on high-quality workmanship with modern, easily maintainable materials, combined with modern technology.
The efficient logical layout, minimalist design, and numerous hidden niches for the refrigerator, clothes, or washing machine in the bathroom help to keep the small apartment spatially and visually uncluttered. In this regard, the light surfaces made of easily maintainable melamine work well, complemented by a petrol-colored accent. The unique expression of the apartment is completed by terrazzo textures with a fine grain – applied in the bathroom on the tiles and in the living area in the form of washable wallpaper and coffee tables. The laminate floor in oak decor with a herringbone pattern refers to the old-town apartment.
The interior was realized by a furniture manufacturer and subcontracting companies with which the architectural studio works closely. All requirements and visions could thus be perfected down to the smallest detail. The interior was designed comprehensively, including accessories and decorations.
