Brno - The Královopolské railway station in Brno will undergo a complete transformation in 2020 and 2021. The generous train station building from the 1950s will largely be demolished and replaced with a new two-story building. A significant construction intervention will also be the creation of an underpass extending behind the station to Myslínova Street, which people currently access via a relatively long detour, as indicated by a document on the EIA Information Portal. SŽDC previously stated that all work will cost approximately 1.8 billion crowns.

Behind the level entrance from the public transport junction, there will continue to be ticket counters and waiting areas for trains, restrooms, smaller commercial spaces, and a luggage storage area. The spaces will connect to the elevated platform level via escalators and elevators. There will be a waiting room and a children's corner.

Changes are also expected for the underpasses and entrances to the platforms, which will receive new roofs. Access is currently not barrier-free, which is set to change.

The reconstruction will also relocate the technological facilities to the new building, allowing the current one to be demolished without replacement.

The underpass will lead directly to Myslínova Street; currently, it is necessary to walk a few dozen meters around to reach this street. The passage will be open all day.

As part of the reconstruction, the track line will also be repaired up to Kuřim; the second line was repaired last year. This will increase the speed by five to 15 kilometers per hour. The arrangement of the track layout in Královo Pole will also change so that long trains can cross here. During the planned construction, new information systems for passengers will be installed at stations and stops in Česká and Brno-Řečkovice, Královo Pole, and Lesná.
