CHODOV (Sokolovsko) - New houses are being completed in the center of Chodov, which the city council wanted to fill in the gaps. Thanks to an incentive that allowed quick construction of properties for one crown, the city quickly found interested parties. More houses are expected to be built under St. Lawrence Church, the mayor Josef Hora told reporters today.

Staroměstská Street was uncovered in the upper part just a few years ago. Now, new houses with shops have been built there. "Even though the incentive was enticing, only one builder managed to meet the deadline of completion within 18 months," Hora stated. The other two out of a total of eight buyers have not yet started building.
Despite this, the city leadership is satisfied and plans further construction. However, it is likely to entrust it to a development company. "We have a study for the construction of five multifunctional buildings on the street opposite the pedestrian zone under the church. The documentation could be ready by the end of January," Hora mentioned. Construction could start early next year after discussions.
Significant investments have been made in the pedestrian zone in recent years. The engineering networks around the new town hall have been replaced, and new pavement has been laid. A square has been created at the upper part of Staroměstská Street, and a new fountain has been placed above it. The investments in the center's modifications cost the city more than 20 million crowns. The city council also offered additional funds in the form of loans to private homeowners for facade renovations.
