Brno - The South Moravian Region and the municipality of Pasohlávky in the Brno area have received a project for the construction of a spa complex in Pasohlávky. The first phase will require an investment of 1.2 billion crowns. The municipality and the region will now evaluate the proposal. The region is preparing a special meeting of the council in mid-January next year, said Governor Bohumil Šimek (ANO) to reporters today.
The project has been discussed in various forms for ten years, since the company Thermal Pasohlávky was established. The region holds two-thirds of the shares in the company, and the municipality holds the rest. The company will contribute land valued at 366 million crowns to the project. The Chinese investor RiseSun is to pay for the investments, which are currently estimated at 1.2 billion crowns in the first phase.
According to information released today, there will be a four-star hotel, a spa, a shopping zone, and also 42 family homes in the municipality, which has 200 building numbers. Xu Jie, a representative of the Chinese company, stated today in Brno that the Chinese company already has 41 projects around the world. "Some of them have very good results, customers are satisfied with them," Jie noted. According to him, RiseSun has more than 6,400 hotel rooms worldwide, but Pasohlávky is its first project in the European Union. "For us, this is a very important project," Jie remarked in Brno today.
According to Martin Intterheim, the chairman of the board of Thermal Pasohlávky, the company already has a memorandum for the extraction of geothermal water from two springs. It has slightly reduced the capacity of some parts of the project, such as the number of permanent beds, which is set to be 240. Half of their operation will be funded through insurance, and half will be self-payers. The goal is for the project to be complete as early as in the first phase of construction. The investors have named the project Pasohlávky Resort. It is to be created between the municipality and the road connecting Brno and Mikulov. Nearby is already the extensive Aqualand Moravia and the large campground Merkur. Pasohlávky is located about 30 kilometers from Brno. The area is close to the Pálava Protected Landscape Area and the Lednice-Valtice Complex. The surroundings are heavily visited by tourists.
According to the mayor of Pasohlávky, Martina Dominová, the municipality will now try to assess the construction risks as quickly as possible. "I cannot say at which council meeting the decision will be made," Dominová stated.
