Prague - The transformation of the area near the C metro station Ládví will begin in March next year. It was originally supposed to start by the end of this year. The delay was caused by the missing consent from the Order of the Knights of the Cross, which owns one of the plots. The documentation necessary for the transport company (DPP) is also incomplete. This was stated today by the mayor of Prague 8, Roman Petrus (CSSD). A newly landscaped square, space for markets, and a fountain are planned for Ládví.

"The problem is not that the Knights disagree with the transformation, but that they need consent from Rome; unfortunately, this process is lengthy," said Petrus. The missing consent prevents the municipality from obtaining a zoning decision and a building permit.

The municipality is also facing further problems with incomplete documentation for DPP in connection with the metro. "Some documents still need to be supplemented," said the mayor.

In October this year, the office, according to Petrus, plans to announce a tender to find a construction company that will carry out the space modifications. "I would be pleased if the actual construction began in March 2018. Until then, I would like to see the return of farmers' markets to Ládví," said Petrus.

A new large square will be created next to the metro station, where cultural events will be held, along with a smaller square or space for a market. A fountain will be built, new greenery will be planted, and a memorial to the architect of the adjacent housing estate, Viktor Tuček, will be erected. In the first phase of the reconstruction, a large square will be created. The costs of the reconstruction have not yet been determined, but the municipality preliminarily estimates about 40 million crowns excluding VAT.
