Prague - The Prague 8 City Hall announced a tender for the supplier of the reconstruction of the area near the Ládví subway station. Roman Petrus (ČSSD), the mayor, said this to ČTK today. Work could begin after the holidays. The area in Ládví is to have a newly arranged square, space for markets, and a fountain. A novelty will also be the farmers' markets, which will take place even during the reconstruction.
"We have announced the competition, and if everything goes smoothly, work could start at the end of September or the beginning of October. It's not the most convenient time, but everything has been discussed enough that there should not be any problems," said Petrus.
A new large square will be created next to the subway station, where cultural events will be held, as well as a smaller square or a space for a market. A fountain will be built, new greenery will be planted, and a memorial to the architect of the adjacent housing estate, Viktor Tuček, will be erected. The costs are preliminarily estimated at several tens of millions of crowns.
The city hall's management wants to select the operator of the farmers' markets by the end of August. These markets will also operate during the mentioned reconstruction and will be moved to places where repairs are not taking place. According to Petrus, more markets will be held in the renovated space in Podzámčí in Libeň and near the Krakow department store.
