Olomouc – The state has transferred a plot of land with the chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows to the municipality of Štarnov in the Olomouc region, free of charge. This will allow the municipality to undertake the planned repairs of the chapel. Zdeněk Nevělík from the Office for Representation of the State in Property Matters announced this today.

The free-standing chapel from the first half of the 19th century has a square floor plan and a gable roof. Above the entrance is a triangular pediment. "It is a small sacral building of folk architecture. The chapel has been maintained by the municipality for a long time, which ensures its upkeep and organizes cultural and spiritual events for the public in its vicinity," Nevělík stated.

The chapel is located on the edge of Štarnov towards Benátky. The free transfer will allow the municipality to begin the stabilization of the masonry, the restoration of the fresco decoration, and the original exterior plaster. The local government has already had the implementation documentation for the repairs prepared, which it has categorized among priority projects. The estimated costs for the renovation of the chapel of Our Lady were previously estimated at 750,000 crowns. The municipality seeks to obtain subsidies for the reconstruction from the MAS Šternbersko.
