Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague announces a recruitment procedure for the position of the Director of Jaroslav Fragner Gallery.
Gallery of Jaroslav Fragner is an important pratform for the presentation of architecture and related fields in the Czech and international context. The Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague is looking for a candidate who will be able to develop the profesional programme of the gallery, strenghten its international collaboration and further develop its role as a space for public debate about architecture, the city and the landscape.

Brief description:
The Jaroslav Fragner Gallery is an important public exhibition space in the historic centre of Prague, focused on architecture, urbanism, spational planning, landscape architecture, architectural heritage conservation and related fields. The gallery is organisationally intergrated within the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague as one of its units.
The gallery contributes to interdisciplinary professional and public debate on architecture and related fields in both national and international context. It organises conceptual exhibitions, educational and outreach activities and also participates in research, creative, publishing and other professional activities.
The Director of JF Gallery quarantees the long-term concept and development strategy of the gallery and is responsible for its professional and operational management, in cooperation with the management of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague and the Gallery Board.
The Director of JF Gallery is employed by the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague on a full-time basis and is an academic staff member in accordance with the relevant internal regulations of CTU.
The Director of JF Gallery reports directly to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague and cooperates with the Gallery Board in the performance of their duties.
Job description:
Management of the operations and development of the JF Gallery in accordance with the gallery´s statutes and the strategic direction of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague. This includes in particular:
• development and delivery of conceptual exhibitions and accompanying programmes in architecture and related fields, including collaboration with external curators and experts
• management of the gallery´s activities, including exhibition, research, eduacational and outreach programmes, and related organisational and administrative tasks
• leadership and motivation of the gallery team, creating conditions for the professional development of staff, and submitting proposals regarding the recruitment, modification or termination of employment of gallery employees
• strategic planning and development of the gallery, including the management of operational matters
• management of the gallery´s finances within the budget allocated by the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague and funds from external sources
• preparation of proposals for co-financing the gallery´s activities from external sources and their submission to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague for approval
• preparation of the programme concept, proposed programme and draft budget of the gallery for the following period, and submission of relevant reports to the Dean of the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague and the Gallery Board
• presentation and promotion of the gallery and communication with professional and general audiences, the architectural community and the academic sphere
• development of cooperation with museums, galleries, universities and other institutions in the Czech Republic and abroad
• collaboration on research, creative, publishing and other professional activities within the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague, CTU and possibly other academic and scientific institutions
Requirements:
− university level education (Master’s degree, Ph.D. an advantage), ideally in the field of architecture, fine art, design or related humanities fields
− a proven track record of managing a cultural institution, professional unit, exhibition platform or similar projects, including experience in people management and responsibility for operational or financial management
− fluent in Czech, alternatively Slovak or English at an advanced level (min. B2), knowledge of another language is an advantage. The recruitment procedure is also open to international candidates.
− organisational and communication skills, conceptual thinking, independence, the ability to plan and make decisions, high level of work performance and flexibility, are required. Creativity, a proactive approach and knowledge of the presentation, exhibition or dissemination of architecture and related fields, are essential
− experience in curating exhibitions of architecture or related fields is an advantage
− ability to independently formulate a curatorial programme for the gallery and develop its activities within both the national and international context of architecture and related fields, is required
− experience in preparing grant applications, international professional experience and curational networks, are considered an advantage
− clean criminal record.

The written concept should briefly present a vision for the JF Gallery for the period corresponding with the director´s term of office and reflect the gallery´s curatorial programme, funding, international collaborations, and its relationship to the Faculty of Architecture at CTU in Prague.

Process of the recruitment procedure:
The announcement of the recruitment procedure has been published on the official notice board of CTU and on the public part of the FA CTU website.
The fulfillment of the formal requirements of the application, as well as the qualifications and professional prerequisites of the applicants, are assessed by an expert committee appointed by the Dean, in accordance with the applicable internal regulations and based on the submitted documents.
At its discretion, the selection committee may invite all or selected applicants to an interview.
FA CTU reserves the right not to select any of the applicants. FA CTU is entitled to cancel the selection procedure at any time.
