Humpolec – Humpolec in the Pelhřimov region has announced an architectural competition for the construction of an apartment building. It is set to be built on Hálková Street. The competition is based on the town hall's intention to utilize the gaps in the center of the eleven-thousand-strong town. Construction of the building is expected to begin in 2022. This was stated today by the town hall spokesperson Aneta Slavíková in a press release.
"Since at least November 1989, the town has been considering how to utilize this land. Many ideas and thoughts have been proposed, and we decided to let a model urban apartment building be built on the plot. And because it is a central location and an interesting yet complex area, we chose the path of announcing an architectural competition," said Deputy Mayor Vlastimil Brukner. The result of the competition is expected to be announced in September. The town has allocated 670,000 crowns for prizes for the participants, according to information on the website of the Czech Chamber of Architects.
Contestants are required to provide a design for the building with small and larger apartments, taking into account the changing climate and the lack of parking spaces in the city center. According to Brukner, there is a significant demand for rental housing in the town, as Humpolec has mainly offered plots for the construction of family houses in the outskirts until now.
