Prague - Architect, actor, founding member of the Sklep theater, and tireless joker David Vávra is celebrating his sixtieth birthday today. On the occasion of this life milestone, his new book Running with Houses is being released, which follows his previous successful titles Three Paths to Architecture and We're Going to the Sea. Vávra is also preparing a series of exhibitions. In March, there will be architectural projects in the Jaroslav Fragner Gallery, while his material experiments can be seen in the Kuzebauch Gallery.
"Since autumn, David has been bringing countless objects to the Kuzebauch Gallery in Břevnov that he would like to exhibit. We ask him who will select the exhibits, and he replies: No one will select anything because your minimalist aesthetics will simply be defeated... I want it to look in the gallery like in a forgotten Vietnamese shop, and that's it!" describes the creative process of preparing the exhibition Lucie Havlová.
Creativity is also woven into his books, which are a combination of architectural knowledge, drawings, and poetry. In the new book Running with Houses, he presents typical floor plans, sections, and views, and of course captivating photographs of the respective objects. The book also includes unrealized utopian projects and designs of various parts not only of Prague neighborhoods. An integral part consists of documentation of theatrical, television, and exhibition scenographies. And of course, art cannot be missing - visual artifacts in sintered glass, porcelain, or perspex.
