Jičín will auction plots for houses in the former barracks starting September 1

Jičín – The city of Jičín will auction 15 parcels for the construction of family houses in the area of the former barracks starting September 1. These are plots that were not sold in the first round of auction at the turn of May and June. In the first round of the auction, four plots for the construction of residential buildings will now go up for bidding. The city could sell more plots in the future at the site of the former military bunker. This was stated today by the city spokesman Jan Jireš.

The auctions will take place from September 1 to 3 and on September 7. Interested parties in the parcels for family houses will have to prepare at least 2.84 million to 4.87 million crowns. The plots for the construction of residential buildings will be auctioned as a whole, with a starting price of 82.5 million crowns, according to information from the town hall on the auction portal.

At the turn of May and June, 19 of the 34 offered parcels for family houses were auctioned off.

The price for the repeated auctions of plots for family houses will be the same as in the first round, i.e., at least 6,560 crowns per square meter. The minimum price for the plots for residential buildings is 11,000 crowns per square meter.

About 200 apartments should be created in the ten-hectare area near Valdštejnská linden alley. Approximately three-quarters of them should be in seven apartment buildings, with the rest in family houses.

The sale of the parcels could return the city's investment of 274 million crowns in infrastructure in the area. The city budget for this year already accounts for the income from the sale of the plots, the town hall stated.

In the area, the city has already approved the sale of the first five parcels for houses before the auctions, whose buyers were selected using an envelope method at the turn of last year and this year. The sale aimed to test interest in the parcels. Successful interested parties offered between 7,111 and 9,119 crowns per square meter using the envelope method. This was significantly more than the city expected.

The city has not yet put up for sale the plots at the site of the former underground bunker, where eight houses could be built in the future. The town hall plans to obtain clarification of the conditions and options for construction for the bunker. This should be done by the company Cuboid architects, which previously created a study and concept for the entire barracks area after winning an architectural competition in 2014.

The city acquired the military area between 2000 and 2006, later demolishing most of the buildings. Originally, private investors were supposed to redevelop the barracks. However, neither of the two attempts to hand the place over to private entities succeeded. In 2011, the city decided to continue utilizing the space on its own.
