Brno - Brno has planned the final completion of the adjustments to the area in front of the Janáček Theatre for the summer. From July to autumn, a park will be created on the roof of the new underground garages, which is now surrounded by a fence, at a cost of 47 million crowns. Alongside the planting of greenery, some water features are also anticipated, said Deputy Mayor Robert Kotzian (ODS) at a press conference today. The area is divided approximately in half, with one part adjacent to the theatre featuring granite paving, and the other part set to have a traditional park layout. "We will plant trees and lay lawns here," Kotzian specified. There will also be two shallow pools with a fountain on the roof. The project also includes the renovation of the adjoining terrace at the Janáček Theatre. The small park by the theatre is the final part of larger modifications to the park at Moravské náměstí around the statue of a Red Army soldier and the park at Koliště, which cost 57 million crowns. The city began the renovations back in 2012, during which the dominant statue itself, as well as the greenery and sidewalks, were repaired. The park gained new furniture, attractions for children, and new sculptures. The underground garages by the theatre opened at the end of last year.
