Prague - Modifications of Národní třída in Prague 1, in the section between Voršilská and Spálená streets, will be completed by the end of September. CTK was informed by the spokesperson for Prague 1, Veronika Blažková. Work on the boulevard began in June and includes, for example, sidewalk adjustments and the planting of tree rows. This city district also plans to start the revitalization of Anenské náměstí and repair the sidewalks in Betlémská street this year.
The repairs of Národní třída will cost the city district 16.6 million crowns excluding VAT. The construction work consists of replacing and widening sidewalks, building raised traffic calming bumps for crossing the street, adjusting public lighting and overhead wiring, and planting new trees. The sidewalks will be newly paved with mosaic tiles, and new parking spaces will also be created. The repairs follow the already completed revitalization of Karolíny Světlé street.
In the long term, the city district plans to continue the modifications in the section from Spálená street to Jungmannovo náměstí. A roundabout is to be constructed there, which would allow cars to return without driving into Perlová, Skořepka, and Na Perštýně streets, which local residents criticize.
Later this year, the Prague 1 city hall intends to start repairs on Anenské náměstí, a short distance from Smetanovo nábřeží. "The aim of the proposal is to create a quiet local center near the significant buildings of the Pachtův palace and the Theater Na zábradlí," Blažková stated, adding that besides the surface adjustments of the square, the placement of new street furniture, planting of trees, and adjustments to public lighting are also planned. By the end of the year, repairs of the sidewalks in Betlémská street should also begin.
