Roztoky - Roztoky near Prague have completed a project for the complete restoration of the monumentally protected villa No. 125 in Tichá Valley, with work expected to start in the autumn. The estimated investment is around 30 million CZK. Tomáš Novotný, the deputy mayor of Roztoky, told ČTK today.
The city is still waiting for some opinions, as this is a monumentally protected building. This also affects the investment amount, as materials and technologies must correspond to the historical value of the building, decided by conservationists. "We are just about to announce a tender for the contractor," Novotný stated. If everything goes smoothly, the city council should approve the tender announcement in April.
The city is also applying for European grants, which it intends to use to build a kindergarten on the upper floor of the villa. The ground floor of the villa will be designated for community activities.
Two villas in Tichá Valley, No. 110 and No. 125, previously belonged to the Haurowitz family, who also owned, among other things, the factory warehouse of Kosmonoský card manufacturers. Tenants still reside in villa No. 110, and the city is maintaining the property regularly. In the future, it could host an exhibition about the lives of prominent Jewish industrialists from Roztoky and the surrounding area, but currently, the city lacks funds for its complete renovation. This year, the city is operating with a budget of approximately 180 million CZK.
