Brno - Brno has the first document that symbolically maps the modernized route of the railway and the station in a relocated position. The Department of Urban and Building Regulation of the magistrate today issued a territorial decision for the construction. It was published on the official bulletin board. The document is not a final decision on where the station will be located. However, thanks to it, the investor can begin to apply for individual building permits, one of the department's employees told ČTK today. Magistrate officials decided in the spatial proceedings on appeals filed by about 80 people against the previous decision of the building authority in Brno-Center. Partly, there were opponents of the so-called relocation of the station, and partly there were people who live close to the future railway and are concerned about the impacts of the track expansion. The magistrate modified the decision of the lower authority, but according to the department employee, not significantly. The option that the railway station will be in the south of the city is now a step further than the one where the station is supposed to remain in the center. The territorial proceedings for the reconstruction of the Brno railway is probably the largest that building authority workers in the Czech Republic have ever conducted. There are so many documents for the project that they had to be brought to the magistrate on a cart. The previous Brno coalition made up of the ODS and KDU-ČSL decided on the reconstruction of the railway line in Brno, which requires the construction of a new station 800 meters to the south of the current one. The new city leadership, represented by the main opponents of the station's relocation from the Green Party, wants to reconsider the decision. Therefore, the association of Cityplan and the Faculty of Transportation of the Czech Technical University in Prague will compare both options. Based on the document, the Brno council will discuss the project again. The comparative study will be completed at the earliest by mid-July. As Deputy Mayor Martin Ander (SZ) previously stated, the issued territorial decision cannot disrupt the comparison of options. "The territorial decision is the possibility to build, not an obligation," he told ČTK. According to him, an independent comparative analysis is essential for Brno to apply for European funds for the project. In Brussels, the efficiency of projects funded by joint money is viewed strictly. The relocation of the station does not have a good reputation in this regard; in a referendum, the majority of Brno residents expressed their opposition to it.
