Brno - The Brno AZ Tower, which is set to become the tallest building in the Czech Republic at 111 meters, is already almost half-rented. It is rising at a pace of one floor every two weeks. Construction has so far cost 200 million crowns, said Jiří Maršálek from AZ Tower. "Currently, 45 percent of the space is rented out. Another ten percent is reserved," Maršálek told ČTK. The skyscraper is attracting foreign IT companies, companies engaged in control systems, and marketing agencies. The largest request, for approximately 3,000 square meters of office space, which the company is currently negotiating, includes six floors. "Given the enormous interest in small offices and apartments on the upper floors, we decided to architecturally adjust the top floor of the offices and divide it into smaller spaces," said Petr Teplý from AZ TOWER regarding the construction. Currently, columns and load-bearing walls of the fourth above-ground floor of the tower are being poured, and reinforcement for the third above-ground floor of the car showroom and service station is being prepared. By the end of the year, eight above-ground floors will be completed. "At this moment, aside from the first four above-ground floors, we also have two underground levels completed, which will accommodate up to 265 parking spaces," Teplý stated. According to Teplý, Brno will boast the tallest building starting from spring 2013. The building will reach its maximum height in October of next year. The Brno project aims to surpass PPF in Prague. In Prague's Chodov, it plans to build the two tallest Czech skyscrapers, with the taller one expected to be 138 meters high.
