Munich - The capital city of Prague is looking for an investor for the revitalization of the Holešovice Market. It aims to host cultural events and create a new center for start-up technology companies. This was stated by Michal Hašek, councilor of the Prague city hall, and Eliška Kaplický Fuchsová, chairwoman of the Committee for Culture, Heritage Care, Exhibition, Tourism, and Foreign Relations, at the commercial real estate fair Expo Real in Munich. They want to launch the project during this electoral term.

The heritage-protected area of the Holešovice Market currently houses dozens of buildings and several dozen permanent stalls. Prague initially planned for the market to remain there, supplemented by gastronomy, culture, and sports. However, Kaplický suggested a slightly different vision to ČTK.
"At the recent Days of Prague in Dublin, we saw the local Digital Hub focused on new technologies and start-ups. Something similar would fit well in the Holešovice Market space - a combination of art and offices for start-up technology companies," Kaplický outlined the new vision.
"We would like to create a mix there so that the space is lively from morning to evening. However, the intention should not disrupt the existing area, which is architecturally and urbanistically very valuable. It needs to be preserved," Hašek added.
According to Hašek, the Holešovice Market area is currently very neglected, and its revitalization will cost a lot of money. However, the exact costs have not yet been quantified by the city hall. Nevertheless, they are already looking for a potential investor who would fund the reconstruction of the area according to Prague's ideas. This is also why the reconstruction of the Holešovice Market, along with the renovation and reconstruction of the Old Town Market, is the main theme of Prague's booth at this year's fair in Munich.
"Every such fair attracts investors and serves as an information exchange. We already have some positive responses to these projects. It is a lucrative location, and first investors are already reaching out to us. We would be pleased if these matters could move forward during this electoral term," concluded Hašek.
